History of The BRIAND GROUP
- 1745 onwards: the Briand family's blacksmith's business is passed from father to son
- 1950: The Briand Company founded in Les Herbiers by Anselme and Jeanne Briand
- 1951 A contract for a major metal construction and the building of the first metal roof struts launched Briand on its industrial career. The company took on new design skills and made its first machines.
- 1961: Move from rue St Jacque to rue des Pierres. The Company now has 40 employees
- 1963 A large metal construction factory was built on the Route des Sables.
- 1966 The company innovated by introducing analytical accounting and a permanent stock-control system.
- 1969 BRIAND SA founded. The design office was placed under Roger Briand, the founders' son.
- 1976 BRIAND CONSTRUCTION METALLIQUE founded.
- 1981 1981: Roger Briand becomes director of the Briand Group.
- 1993: The Group diversifies by merging with the AMB Charpentes Group in Saint Sylvain d'Anjou (Maine et Loire), a specialist in glulam framing
- 1997: Merger with Berton Demangeau in Vallet (Loire Atlantique), a specialist in glulam framing
- 2001: Merger with the Gerard Company which becomes Briand & Gerard, a metal framing company based in Voves (Eure et Loire) that works in the Paris basin.
- 2006 Briand Construction Bois created by the merging of AMB Charpentes with BD Charpentes.
- 2007: Gil Briand becomes director of the Briand Group
- 2008: the Design & Build Company was founded to give a full design-build service especially for metal above-ground car park structures. Briand Energies founded to develop activities associated with energy-efficient building and launch our photovoltaics range.
- 2009 An innovative new metal construction factory opened in Beaupaire (Vendée).
- 2010 A new Briand Group headquarters opened, built to low-energy standards.
